Port Melbourne Veterinary Clinic & Hospital was established in 1997 on Bay Street, just two streets from the beach. Our purpose-built, fully equipped clinic is designed to provide top-quality veterinary care, including a wide range of surgical procedures and advanced diagnostics.
We have a dedicated team of two full-time and two part-time veterinarians, supported by nine experienced nurses and animal attendants. Our friendly staff are passionate about animal health and understand the special bond you share with your pet. Their well-being is our number one priority.

Dr Lewis Kirkham offers behaviour consultations for pets experiencing anxiety, aggression (excluding pet-to-owner aggression), phobias, or other behavioural issues. He provides expert advice and tailored management strategies to help improve your pet’s well-being and strengthen your bond. For cases of pet-to-owner aggression, Dr Kirkham refers clients to other qualified behaviourists who specialise in these complex cases.
We maintain strong relationships with Melbourne’s top veterinary specialists. If needed, we can arrange for a specialist to visit our clinic or refer you to a trusted specialist centre for advanced diagnostic work-ups and treatments.

Practice Manager
Casey started with us in 2019 and after a short hiatus learning in different clinics has come back to call our clinic home. Casey is a qualified vet nurse and has a soft spot for all cats but don’t tell her German Shepherd that. Casey is an any sport fan, but her true love is netball.
Trainee Veterinary Nurse
After being in restaurant management for over 7 years, Hanna is now pursuing her dream of working with animals. She is currently studying Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Hanna adores her big rescue dogs, especially staffies. When she is not working, you will find Hanna at the gym.
Trainee Veterinary Nurse
After a career as a youth worker, Emily decided in 2021 to turn her passion for animal care into her full-time career. Emily has since completed her Certificate III in Veterinary Nursing and is on her way to become a fully qualified veterinary nurse.
Emily has a love for all animals, however she as a particular soft spot for large breed rescue dogs. Emily currently has a big loveable Bull Arab rescue called Luffy. In her downtime, Emily is a keen runner and may see her face at your next marathon.
Trainee Veterinary Nurse
Lucy is our trainee veterinary nurse, studying Certificate IV Vet Nursing, her dream job since primary school. She has a big passion for animals, and volunteers at local animal shelters and pet sits regularly. She has a kitten called Arnott who loves zooming around the house and makes biscuits 24/7, like her namesake. Lucy is a keen netballer, when she isn’t at the clinic - you’ll see her running on the courts.
Animal Attendant
Ellen is one of our animal attendants that you will see greeting you at reception. Ellen is currently studying Zoology and Animal Science. She adores all our biggest and smallest animals (especially baby possums). She has three cats, two Burmese and one rescue. In her free time, she loves to get away to the beach and fishing.
Jana is a second year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine student at the University of Melbourne. She is currently training for a half-marathon and enjoys going on long runs with her Border Collie, Maya.
Vet Nurse
Tuğçe is a qualified vet nurse with a passion for animal care and well-being. With four years of experience in the field, she takes great pride in providing compassionate support to both pets and their owners. From assisting in surgeries and medical treatments, to offering guidance on pet health and nutrition, she strives to ensure every animal receives the best possible care.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and her two dogs, Fiko and Monty.
Surgery Nurse
Cheryl is currently a second-year veterinary student at the University of Melbourne. She is originally from Singapore, and she has three cats back home. Cheryl has a Diploma in Veterinary Technology, and you will mostly find her supporting our vet team in surgery. In her free time, she enjoys gaming and short novels.
Animal Attendant
Denzill is currently studying Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with University of Melbourne.
Denzill loves all our animals from big to small ones. In his spare time, you’ll find Denzill cycling and the best part of his day is coming home from a ride to his fluffy Groodle, Ruby.
