Dr Shiyao

Graduate Veterinarian

Shiyao was born and raised in China, she left home in 2016 to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Physiology at the University of Colorado, USA. In 2021, she moved to Australia to study for a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Melbourne. After graduating in 2024, Shiyao joined the Port Melbourne Veterinary Clinic in 2025 as a new graduate veterinarian. She is fluent in Mandarin.

Shiyao has a strong passion for all types of surgery.

She shares her home with Roro, a black and tan dachshund (named after the word for “meat” in Chinese), and Gugu, a light gold hypo zero bearded dragon (named after the word for “bone” in Chinese). Outside of work, Shiyao enjoys outdoor activities, she loves snowboarding, traveling, and playing badminton on weekends.
